We will describe the ESA Call for Ideas process and the pan-European proposal, "Cosmic Origins and Living Worlds", that was submitted in response. The basic science and mission concepts will be described along with the relationships to parallel activities that have been going on in the USA.

At the moment the outcomes of the ESA call are unclear, but any feedback received by the date of the meeting will be reported.
