A large part of the auroral and airglow émissions occur in the UV and Visible as for example Lyman alpha for giant planets or the CO Cameron band for Mars. The main objective of the talk is to study the potentiality of spectroscopy with the LUVOIR telescope for upper atmospheric studies of planets in the Solar System or for exoplanets. We will try to particularly focus on the spécifications needed for différents forthcomming science cases.

We will also add the potentiality of possible polarimetric measurements.
